AUTHOR
Born in 1990, Lucian E. Matei is a new media artist and art director recognized for his interdisciplinary vision that merges visual arts, technology, and performance. Working under the name Noiseloop, a new media studio founded in 2017, he develops multimedia concepts and immersive experiences that explore the relationship between humans, space, and light through video mapping, interactive installations, light sculptures, and audiovisual design.
A graduate of the Faculty of Arts and Design in Timișoara and holder of a Master’s Degree in Interactive Multimedia from the Faculty of Theatre and Film, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, he began his artistic journey in the field of video art and experimental film, being awarded the Jury Award at AMA Film Festival (2010) and the Jecza Gallery Award for Best Experimental Film (2012).

Throughout his career, the artist has collaborated with numerous national and state theatres across Romania – Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Târgu Mureș, Arad, Brașov, and Bucharest – where he developed visual concepts and designed video projections for theatrical productions.
At the same time, he has exhibited and performed at festivals and art venues in Romania and internationally, including Spotlight Festival (Bucharest), Radar New Media Art Festival (Bucharest), Romanian Creative Week (Iași), Act Mapping (Moldova), Light Art Festival Trenčín (Slovakia), Lumiart Dubrovnik Light Festival (Croatia), Photagogia (Greece), Prometheus IX (Greece), and Fluxus Kaunas (Lithuania). His emblematic projects include LUMINATIV, EARTH ODYSSEY, PODUL DE FLORI, and SUBMERSA.
As a creative mentor, he has conducted multiple workshops and creative labs in intermedia art, video mapping, and multimedia installations, contributing to the development of a new generation of artists focused on interactive digital art.
Lucian E. Matei cultivates an aesthetic of perception and light, where technology becomes a poetic extension of the artistic act, inviting the audience to actively engage in the visual experience.
